BRASS bands joined forces for an inter-continental concert.

Hade Edge Band hosted a concert for Bergen Brass Band from Norway, who are on a three-day tour of the north.

Outside of England, Norway is one of the keenest brass band nations, along with Switzerland.

The concert, at the Valley bandroom was split between the two countries and Hade Edge kicked off proceedings with performances by its senior band, choir and jazz group. The second half of the concert was performed by the Norwegians.

Following their Holme Valley performance, the Bergen contingent travelled to York for a town centre concert and then on to Uppermill to play for dignitaries at Saddleworth Civic Hall.

They then travelled south for a concert at the Pavilion Gardens in Buxton before finishing their visit as spectators at the National Finals at London’s Royal Albert Hall, where local champions Brighouse and Rastrick Band were defending their crown.
