Lindley Out of School Club has celebrated its 20th birthday.

The group was started to ensure that working parents of Lindley infant and junior schools could access quality and affordable childcare.

The registered charity has since grown to become one of the biggest out of school clubs based in the Huddersfield area.

To mark the occasion a special birthday party was organised at St Philip’s Community Centre in Birchencliffe.

The group also operates there as well as at Lindley Methodist Church Centre.

The festivities were opened by local Lib Dem Councillor Cahal Burke, who is pictured right.

He said: “It is a real honour to be asked to formally open Lindley Out of School Club’s birthday celebrations.

“There will have been many, many people who have played their part in helping the club provide local parents with access to affordable childcare over the years.

“They all deserve thanks and recognition.

“As a parent myself I know that the cost of childcare can be a real challenge.

“I want to give my personal thanks to the club and its members for the positive part they have played in the lives of local parents and children over the last two decades”, he added.
