WISHES came true for residents at Greenacres Care Home, Meltham, after a National Dignity Day event.

Staff opened an old-style pub at the home complete with old photos, memorabilia, darts, dominoes and traditional British food.

Dignity Day, on February 1, recognises the right to dignity for people in care and aims to give them an enjoyable day to remember.

Greenacres resident Michael Morris, donated £20 to Guide Dogs as his wish on National Dignity Day.

Two weeks later his wish of meeting a guide dog was fulfilled when guide dog in training Fonda and her puppy walker Margaret Kenworthy visited him at the Meltham care home.
