ONE of the criticisms often levelled at our MPs is that they have come from privileged backgrounds and have no concept of living and working in the real world as most of us know it, that they live in effect in a parallel universe. Years ago this accusation would not have been true, we did have a number of MPs who had come from the School of Life rather than university, but have we moved into an era of professional politicians? People whose only outlook and knowledge of life has been coloured and shaped by what they have read rather than what they have experienced? The decisions they now make, living and working within a secure well paid environment, are based on what they believe they know as fact.
