An out-of-school club in Mount is simply outstanding.

That’s the verdict of Ofsted inspectors who visited Outlane Out of School Club.

The club was only the second stand-alone out-of-school provider in Kirklees to achieve the top endorsement. Based in Moorlands Primary School, it has seven members of staff who look after 120 children.

Helene Terry, who inspected the facilities, said: “Staff have an excellent understanding of the ways in which children learn best. They are highly skilled in engaging children in the activities, to build on what they already know and can do, to extend learning in highly effective ways.

“The very well-resourced and well-planned environment ensures that children consistently have a wide choice of meaningful activities and are active and very motivated learners.

“Staff create a highly welcoming environment where children settle in well and make warm relationships with each other and staff. This results in children being happy, safe and secure.”

Other areas praised included staff’s rigorous implementation policies and procedures to ensure the children’s safety and well-being.

Ms Terry’s report also highlighted the club’s excellent relationship with the school and parents. She said: “They complement each other extremely well in order to maximise children’s care and learning.

The club is open weekdays during term time and also during school holidays.

Lindsey Chadwick, a partner in the club, said: “We’re delighted with the result.

“We have a fantastic relationship with our parents/ carers and school staff and feel extremely proud of our children and staff.

“It has taken years of hard work to get our outstanding award.

“We are a fantastic team and this shone through.

“We have fantastic facilities within the school and the children benefit from this.”
