A PARISH councillor is set to open a dialogue with local people with his new Internet blog.

Clr Terry Sigsworth, of Denby Dale Parish Council, said he wanted to explore a new way to share what the parish council does, and an Internet diary (known as a ‘blog’) seemed an ideal way.

He said: “I will try to update it after each council meeting. The idea came about from seeing an article in the Examiner about Clr Martyn Bolt (Conservative cabinet member) setting up a blog for the Mirfield area. I thought it seemed a brilliant way for people to be able to see some of what the parish council does, but from a personal viewpoint and in a way that was easy for people to add their comments, ideas and suggestions. These could then be fed back into any discussions on the subject.

“If an issue is raised which I think the parish council could do something about, then I can ask for it to be put on the agenda of a future meeting or raise it in any future discussions we might have on the subject. Councillors are elected to represent local people's views, and this is one way to help me achieve this.”

Clr Sigsworth said the blog would complement the official parish council website with a lighter 'conversational' approach to particular issues.
