THE story about pensioners Jean Richmond and Michael Stokes meeting on the internet certainly is a heartwarming one.

The internet is a window on the world and most young people don’t know a life without it or mobile phones. Many go on Facebook before they even get out of bed in the morning and chat to friends more via texts than they do with their mouths.

It has been more of a challenge for the older generation to embrace, but 69-year-old Jean and 72-year-old Michael have shown its benefits in the way it has brought them together.

Michael wasn’t even looking love, just companionship but will today walk out of Huddersfield Town Hall with a new bride.

Let’s hope it inspires others among the elderly who are feeling alone and lonely to consider exploring this new technology and going on the web.

It may just change their lives forever.
