A BT pole is to be moved after drivers claimed it was a hazard.

It will be moved from its location on Ashes Lane, Almondbury, just below Castle Hill, to a safer position nearby, hopefully before Christmas.

The pole has raised concern among residents who claim it ‘narrows the road.’ They say they have smashed wing mirrors on the pole and come close to having an accident.

Clr Phil Scott (Lib Dem, Almondbury) said:

“I have been asked by local residents as to when the BT pole will be moved, which was promised by BT a good few months ago.

“I feel it is important that this is done as soon as possible.

“Given that at this time of year, when the weather conditions can cause treacherous problems for drivers, the proposed move will hopefully avoid any potential accidents from the current position of the BT pole.”

Clr Andrew Cooper (Green Party, Newsome) added:

“Now the council has decided to build a cemetery up on Stirley Hill, it is important that this stretch of road is made as safe as possible, so I welcome the re-siting of the poles.”
