STUDENTS took part in the national finals of a miniature car race.

A team from Salendine Nook High School competed in the F1 in Schools finals at The Big Bang Fair at Birmingham NEC.

They joined more than 30 other top teams from around the country who had won through from regional finals held earlier in the year.

The teams had taken up the challenge to design, build, test and race a miniature F1 car.

The Huddersfield team worked closely with engineers from Cummins Turbo Technologies on the design of the car for their Team Kinetic.

The final was won by Team Ignite, a team of students from Alice Owen’s School in Potters Bar, Hertfordshire.

Team Kinetic said that despite not coming home with a trophy they were pleased at doing their school proud.
