The Creative and Media Studio School teenagers have now won the chance to produce a national promotional film with a London film company.

Taliah Lamont, 16, Chris Beal, 18, and Matthew Blakey, 16, travelled to Buckingham Palace last week after making a shortlist of three for the Studio Schools Trust National Project.

They received their finalists award from HRH the Duke of York in the morning. Later that day he announced that they were the national champions.

The brief for the project, which attracted 58 films from all over the country, was ‘to produce a video to use in a marketing campaign for your Studio School’ and to be as creative as possible.

The Rawthorpe students’ five-minute film Draw Our Life tells the story of the Creative and Media Studio School, which opened in September 2010, using simple animation based on Taliah’s drawings.

School business broker Sarah Timberley said: “Prince Andrew made the announcement that our team have been crowned winners. We are absolutely delighted and proud of Matty, Chris and Taliah.

“Draw Our Life is a fantastic short film and extremely creative. It was different to all the other films in the competition; very clean and fresh.”
