OUR fuel story today shows it still pays to shop around but the fear is the current crisis in Libya will continue to push prices up to astronomical amounts.

Although people may moan about the price at the pumps – and rightly so – the time has come for us to change our ways.

Save money by only making journeys that are absolutely necessary and car share whenever possible when picking kids up from clubs and societies or simply going shopping.

If rising fuel costs are passed on we will be paying more for everything in the shops soon and perhaps transport costs will be forced up too.

Life is already expensive and challenging enough with the budget cuts and big public sector job losses, but will the rising cost of fuel be just one more reason why the UK could soon find itself back in a recession?
