All Saints Catholic College celebrated global diversity at the school in Bradley last week.

And the event has been hailed an overwhelming success, according to organisers.

Teaching Assistant Bernice Manifold, who helped organise the event, said: “This event celebrates the cultural heritage of the students in our school.

“We are diverse in our ethnicity and religions. Over 20 languages are spoken by our students, including: Latvian, Tigrinya, Polish and Farsi.”

The evening started with a student procession of ‘welcome and hello’ said in a variety of languages.

As well as students and staff, invited guests were delighted to take to the stage to perform.

The Mlody Mazur Polish Dancers performed ahead of further dance styles including Polish, Kathak style (Indian) and American Roaring Twenties.

Music came from college Year 7 and Year 8 students in the form of the gloriously sounding Steel Pans.

There was also a duet-style violin medley and a Year 10 Rock Band boisterously closed the evening.

Bernice added: “We had prayers and poems throughout the event, including Klaudia Markovic and Faye Auty reading a Polish poem with English translation.

“Thank you to all the staff who contributed their time and dedication to this event, not forgetting our supportive parents and of course the enthusiastic students who took part.”
