Two retiring school heads have been given a spectacular send-off.

Pupils and staff at Scholes JIN School honoured retiring headteacher Yvonne Donkersley and deputy head Sarah Woodhead with a balloon launch in the school grounds on July 11.

Children also held shows for Ms Donkersley, who has been headteacher at the school for nine years, and Ms Woodhead who has worked at Scholes JIN School for most of her career.

Ms Donkersley, 54, will be succeeded by Nadine Sadler who works at Spring Grove JI School.

She said: “It’s been a fantastic day... It’s been a fantastic place to work at.

“Sarah has been a very well loved and respected deputy head.”

The school also said goodbye to Key Stage Two coordinator, Lindsey Delooze, who will be moving to Honley High School.
