Sunday morning worship at Scholes Methodist Chapel on the Sunday, December 23, was led by Dr Nick Martin, with his sermon being based on Luke chpt1 v26-46 read by Hilary Deakin . The Swindell family greeted the congregation at the door and Julia Noble played the organ . Celia Poole and Wilf Battye lit the fourth Advent candle and coffee and biscuits were served by Mabel Wadsworth , Margaret Thompson and Wilf Battye after the service. In the afternoon the children of the Sunday School enjoyed lunch, games and a visit from Father Christmas with the Sunday School teachers. The Carols by Candlelight evening service was led by Rev Tim Moore and poems, readings from Luke chapters 1 and 2 and carols were led by members of the congregation. Coffee, tea and mince pies were served by the Ladies Circle after the service.
