A SCHOOL production of Oliver! received standing ovations from the audience at All Saints Catholic College Bradley.

Pupils donned shabby clothes and got their bowls of gruel at the ready to become a stunning cast to tread the boards at special productions last week.

And they still filled the Bradley Road school every night despite the storms last Wednesday.

Head of Arts at the School, Teresa Lee, said: “It was fantastic.

“The students performance was outstanding and set the standards really high.

“We had cast, crew and band across all ages of the school.

“We were a bit worried with the bad weather on Wednesday night and thought some people may not come but our audience did not disappoint and there wasn’t an empty seat in the house.”

The lead role of Oliver Twist was played by Year 8 pupil Joe Dalarny with Joe Barty, a Year 10 pupil, playing Fagin.

Pupils in the chorus gave the performance the added ‘umph’ particularly with musical favourites such as Food Glorious Food, Consider Yourself and I’d Do Anything.
