A SCOTTISH-themed fundraising dinner boosted the coffers for a church repair fund.
The St Andrew’s Day event was held in aid of Holy Trinity Church, South Crosland.
Sixty guests enjoyed a four course meal with entertainment. There was also an auction of items donated by individuals and local businesses.
Funds are desperately needed to repair the leaking roof which is causing damp to penetrate the building.
Initial advice suggests that there may be significant costs involved to complete the necessary works.
Whilst grants may be available, it is anticipated that 50% of the cost will have to be met by the church itself.
The congregation are continually working to raise funds to try and ensure the building remains viable for the whole community.
Treasurer Nicola Chambers said: “We are striving to ensure our building remains sound for the people of the local area as it has since the foundation stone was laid in 1829.
“We want to ensure Holy Trinity is available for those milestone events in people’s lives – baptisms, weddings and funerals.
“However, more importantly, we want to be accessible to the community for ongoing support, worship and fellowship.”
Donations can be made at Souten & Agyemang Opticians, 345 Meltham Road, Netherton, or by ringing Nicola Chambers on 01484 661904.
