A SEX allegation nightmare for a Huddersfield teacher was ended in just 20 minutes.

That was the time it took a jury to clear Peter Smith of all charges of sexual activity with a former pupil.

Mr Smith, of Scissett – a married man with two children – had been accused of abusing his position of trust as a grammar school teacher between December 2006 and June 2007.

But jurors at Leeds Crown Court found him not guilty of performing sexual acts with the boy while he was his teacher. He was acquitted on all 10 charges.

Mr Smith’s lawyer, Peter Pimm, said the teacher did not have a relationship with the boy while he was his teacher or before the boy had turned 16.
