SINCE the Thandi brothers, having bought the Castle Hill public house, then abused the planning permission they had been granted for its alteration so that the whole structure had to be demolished, why are they allowed any part in the decision as to what, if anything, is to take its place (“Slow progress on future of landmark site”, Examiner February 20)?

In my view public interest is best served by leaving the hill and the “castle” as they are now, unaccompanied by any further structure.

The Thandi brothers have shown themselves to be the last people who should have any say in the matter.
