Staff and students have backed an anti-violence campaign.

The members of Huddersfield New College used their hands to pledge support to the White Ribbon Campaign.

Under a banner proclaiming ‘These Hands Are Not For Hurting’ 284 students draw around their hands.

They also signed their names on a display that will be given pride of place in the college’s Open Door service.

The campaign works to ensure that men take more responsibility for reducing the level of violence against women.

Staff and students at the Salendine Nook-based college proudly wore stickers and ribbons to show their support.

The Open Door service provides a confidential one stop shop for those with health needs and personal concerns.

Manager Kate Birch said: “It’s always great to see our students out in force to support worthy causes such as these.

“All of our awareness events are always well attended and staff and students always do their bit to make sure these causes get the attention they deserve”.
