It’s amazing how the weather can bring people out of their homes and into their communities.

This weekend record crowds attended events throughout the district – from turning the clock back at the Meltham Memories 40s weekend to enjoying the return of Brockholes Carnival.

Others supped a pint or two at the Monkeyfest in Armitage Bridge or did their bit for charity at Elland Carnival.

The temperature topped 26°c in Huddersfield which meant people could bask in the sun at community events.

It’s thanks to those in the community who organises these and many other events. Last year they were faced with calling them off due to heavy rainfall. Thanks to the sun their efforts have been rewarded.
