THE Kirkheaton Support Group which raises funds for Kirkwood Hospice held its final event of the year, a Christmas fair, at Kirkheaton Liberal Club on November 20 raising £540.
Eager visitors found much to please them in the shape of stalls featuring fresh and artificial flower arrangements, tombola, a homemade cake stall, bric-a-brac, books and jigsaws.
Refreshments were also served.
The support group is dedicated to raising funds for the Dalton-based hospice currently undergoing a £3m refurbishment.
Their support goes back to 1981 when a group of villages in the village banded together in a bid to get the hospice off the ground.
And thanks to such stalwarts as secretary, Freda Trigg, they are still raising invaluable amounts every year.
