DOES anyone agree with me that the standard of food being served up by many of Huddersfield’s takeaways is woeful? Limp, tasteless pizza that has been frozen for far too long and fish that tastes and looks well past its sell-by date.

There is an excellent fish and chip shop just up the road from me and it gets lots of repeat customers, so I can’t understand why others prefer to serve up rubbish and rely on passing trade. In today’s hectic lifestyle there is a need for fast food on occasion and it is very disappointing when you have spent a considerable amount of money and get served food that goes straight in the bin!

My suggestion would be that there should be “fast food inspectors”, employed by the council to do unannounced visits to takeaways and sample the food. Anyone serving up tasteless or sub-standard food would be warned and threatened with closure if the standard did not improve. They would compliment the health and hygiene inspectors.
