A teenager is due in court accused of causing the death of Dalton biker James Haigh.

Mr Haigh died on January 2 when his Suzuki GSX 125 motorbike was in collision with a car in Huddersfield Road, Dewsbury.

The accident happened as Mr Haigh, 32, was on his way to work at Richard Alan Engineering in Shaw Cross.

Daniel Harbridge, 19, faces a charge of causing Mr Haigh’s death. He is alleged to have driven his VW Golf without due care and attention.

Harbridge, of Blacker Road in Netherton, Wakefield, had been due to attend at Kirklees Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

District Judge Andrew Pascoe heard that police had applied to have the case adjourned because Harbridge is currently out of the country. Judge Pascoe agreed to adjourn the case until August 29. Bail was granted.
