MANY detrimental things are written and said in the media about the NHS. I would just like to relate our family’s experience of it over the past few weeks.
On March 15 my mother suffered a severe heart attack. From the moment I rang through to NHS Direct the prompt and efficient way that she has been treated has been wonderful.The paramedics, Huddersfield Royal Infirmary A&E staff, Cardiology Unit at Leeds General Infirmary, CCU and Cardiology staff at HRI – all have treated her and ourselves with dignity and care, keeping us informed every step of the way.
She has made a remarkable recovery and that is all down to the treatment and attention she has received. After nearly three weeks in hospital she is now at home with the support of the hospital discharge team.
Speaking as a nurse who retired seven years ago, I am sure that the care she has received is as good if not better than she would have had at anytime in my 40-year career.
So may we say a heartfelt thank you to LGI and HRI from Peggy Gray and all her family.
