THE town has often laid claim to being the region’s textile capital, plus a standard bearer for music and poetry.

Now it is laying claim to a new distinction. The pie and sausage crown.

There is no denying that many in the area are partial to a good pie or sausage and on cold wintry days such as those we have just had, who could blame them? So there’s more than a sneaking pride to be had in the winning ways of the butchers at the Bolster Moor Farm Shop who won awards for all but one of the 11 products it entered at the Great Yorkshire Pork Pie, Sausage and Products Competition.

The family business was also crowned best in show for pies and sausages.

Early starts, team effort and no room for complacency, say these kings of the pie and sausage world are key.

It sounds like a model for any business and just what you’d expect to hear in any of the many skill sets that Huddersfield excels in. We’re proud of them all.
