Childhood Studies University students from Huddersfield University have been working on a special garden project for the children of St Joseph’s Catholic School, Dalton.

The project was managed by Kirsty Beaumont in liaison with head teacher Dominic Williams.

Helping with the garden project were a parent helper representative Anne Merry and university students Danielle Purser, Frederikke Lubker, James Banton, Kirran Khan, Lucy Fallows, Meshwish Hussain, Nasreen Salih, Paula McDonald, Selina Rashid, Shazana Kauser and Sarah Paine.

The project moved from initial design in February to taking 14 weeks to complete.

The garden incorporates plants, flowers, vegetables, a pond area, mini-beast structure and peace seating areas.

It is designed to provide the children with their own space in the school for them to enjoy and develop a living and working garden.

The official opening ceremony took place on May 13 at 2pm.

It was attended by local dignitaries and was opened by Huddersfield Town Football Club ambassador Andy Booth.
