Huddersfield RCD League Division 1 U15s,

Hebden Bridge 2 Upperthong Tigers 10

AFTER their 6-3 victory over Pudsey on the previous Friday the Tigers went into this fixture in a confident mood, having beaten Bridge 8-0 in the cup.

Hebden Bridge took an early lead on eight minutes – and things got worse when Collier was adjudged to have handled in the penalty area, but the penalty was fired wide. A fortunate let-off.

Upperthong then settled down and Killock’s header was converted by Wilson via Tiplady’s pass then at the other end Max Berry made a telling block on a goalbound Hebden Bridge effort.

On 31 minutes another ‘bomb’ from Heald was met by Kaye who tapped over to make it 2-1 and two minutes later Halton and Wilson combined to set up Tiplady for number three. Tiplady then made it four on 40 minutes.

Wilson scored a fifth at the start of the second half and Max Berry had a header well saved by the goalkeeper. But on 57 minutes the home side hit back with a second goal – from a free kick.

But Wilson headed in number six after Heald had found him from a throw in and two minutes later Tiplady made it 7-2. Wilson was then fouled in the box and Collier took the penalty. The keeper guessed right and made a good save, but could not prevent Collier tucking in number eight. Sewell played Tiplady through for number nine on 74 minutes and a Killock corner was headed firmly home by Kaye to make it double figures for Thong.

The Tigers head off to Holland this Easter for their annual tournament and continue their quest for cup and league honours against Westend next Friday.
