GIRLS helped organise a Victorian celebration at Colne Valley Museum.

The 19th Huddersfield Golcar Guides put on the 19th Century-themed event over three weekends.

Visitors enjoyed traditional activities such as skipping, hopscotch, hoops, whip and tops; weftie games, quoits, Ludo, Tiddlywinks, Happy Families and Snakes and Ladders.

The Guides spent months preparing for the event by familiarising themselves with the traditional games and producing publicity material for their Sport, Culture and Values badge.

Museum member Susan Whitwam said: “The museum was really pleased to have the chance to work with another community organisation, particularly one for young people who may not have visited the museum before.

“It was a great opportunity for us to work together and create some fun events.”

Colne Valley Museum at Cliffe Ash is open from 2pm to 5pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Admission is free.
