VOLUNTEERS at Colne Valley Museum are urging people to make a New Year’s resolution and go along and join them.

Anyone wanting to learn a new skill, put their experience and skills to good use or just meet some new friends are urged to call in at the Golcar museum this weekend .

They could become part of the ambitious project Realising the Dream – restoring and refurbishing the newly acquired cottage and shop at Cliffe Ash in the village.

And, as a bonus, they can view the new exhibition Wild About Wool! which has been created by the Slaithwaite Moonraker’s Festival project team, depicting woolcraft skills in an innovative way.

In the Victorian kitchen the fire will be blazing as the volunteers who make up the Bread Team demonstrate their skills in making some delicious brown bread, using traditional methods.

A spokesman said: “We can offer a wide variety of volunteer activities.

“The museum opens today and tomorrow (12.30 - 5pm), admission is free, and we are inviting people who might be thinking of volunteering to come along to chat to our members and find out what we do.”
