WALKERS have completed their trek around all 30 Methodist churches in the town.
The walk was organised to welcome the Holmfirth section to the newly enlarged Huddersfield Methodist Circuit and enabled people from all parts of the circuit to meet up, make new friends and walk together to visit each other’s churches.
Staged over 10 days the walk saw participants start and finish at a different church each day. Each day’s walk was between four and 10 miles and churches along the way provided refreshments and walkers said prayers at each church.
The group started at Holmfirth Methodist Church on March 8. The following weekend they reached churches in Outlane, Mount and Lindley before ending back in Holmfirth on March 23 in time for the Sunday service. More than 50 people took part in the walk.
Organiser Nicki Smith, of Lindley, said that every church welcomed participants with hot drinks and biscuits.
She added: “We have had a wonderful time, enjoying stunning views from Deer Hill Reservoir and Crosland Hill amongst other places.
“The weather has been lovely. It has been a very enjoyable way of getting to know each other and visiting each other’s places of worship.”
