IT’S the good news that we have been waiting for.

A local company taking on local people in a firm which is very much a local success story.

After several weeks when the business news has been led by details of High Street name after High Street name finding themselves in difficulties and loyal, hard-working staff facing an uncertain future, the Huddersfield economy was in need of a more positive sign.

It now has it thanks to leading insurer LV= which is expanding its operation in Huddersfield.

The company employs 5,600 people across the UK with 250 of those in Huddersfield.

Now it is looking to add a further 120 jobs to its workforce at its Huddersfield headquarters at Folly Hall Mills over the next 12 to 15 months.

That show of confidence in the town and the skilled employees that it can provide has to be good news for all of us.

It signals a company that believes in the quality of its staff and in the future of the business community in the area.

A welcome development then and one which we hope will be the first of many as more companies recognise that Huddersfield has much to offer in terms of dedicated, hard-working staff and its excellent communications.
