A MASSIVE 6,000 women took part in the Race for Life events in Huddersfield this weekend – with thousands more taking part in races all over the country.

Huddersfield’s three races have raised around £330,000 for Cancer Research UK.

It is inspirational to see so many people come together for events like this.

Everyone had a different reason to race at Greenhead Park. Some had lost family and friends to cancer, some had survived the disease or were sufferers.

Race for Life is for all ages and fitness levels. Some ran to beat the clock, others only managed to walk round.

But the time it took to complete the 5km race or the amount each person raised are not really the most important things.

What is paramount is the fact that there are so many people willing to do their bit for charity – and that thousands more turn out to support their efforts. It’s good to see that, despite times being hard financially, people are still generous enough to give their time, effort and cash to a good cause.
