Members of a local mountain rescue team helped in the hunt for a missing man.

Woodhead Mountain Rescue Team, which usually operates in the Peak District, was called to join a search in a residential area at Catcliffe near Rotherham, on Thursday afternoon .

The Woodhead group was joined by specialist search dog teams and the man was found safe and well at 7pm.

Woodhead Mountain Rescue Team incident controller, John Howe, said: “It was a particularly difficult search to manage given the size of area we had to cover .

“It was important we used the correct search strategy to hit the probable areas within the search area.

“When the man was found safe and well it was a real sense of relief and a great feeling.”
