A community knitting day is taking place on the appropriately named World Wide Knit in Public Day.

Baa Baa Brighouse is hosting a knitting event on Saturday, June 21, at Rastrick Library, Crowtrees Lane, from 10.30am until 12.30pm.

Knitters can take along their own knitting or crochet project, or some yarn and knitting needles and join in the fun.

There will be refreshments and a woolly raffle in aid of Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, with prizes supplied by online yarn shop Baa Baa Brighouse.

A regular Knit and Natter Group will lunch, to be held at the same time and place on the first and third Saturdays of every month.

Elaine Jinks-Turner, owner of Baa Baa Brighouse, said: “Knitting can be such a solitary act but this is a specific day to meet like-minded people, share projects, knowledge and talk about fibre arts together.

“In the past, some people have used this event to highlight to the general public that knitting is not just for grannies, it is for everyone – a community activity.”
