Youngsters at Battyeford Primary School exhibit artwork

Children's work on show at Brook's Deli in Mirfield

Youngsters at a Mirfield school exhibited artwork in a town centre deli.

Children at Battyeford Primary School teamed up with professional artist Julia Ogden, of Brighouse, to produce work which went on display at Brook’s Deli in Huddersfield Road.

Julia is inspired by nature and passed on her appreciation of woodlands, birds and the changing seasons to the youngsters.

The children worked on the textiles and acrylic-based artwork for six weeks before it went on show.

Mrs Natalie Deane, art teacher at the school, said: “I am very proud of the achievements of this set of pupils who have worked incredibly hard, out of school hours, to create a wonderful set of illustrative paintings using Julia’s work as their inspiration.

“The finished artworks are of an exceptional standard. We are very grateful to Brook’s for letting us show our work to the public.”
