A PREGNANT woman was killed just days after telling detectives that her ex-boyfriend had assaulted her. BRIGHOUSE: A boy of 13 escaped with minor injuries after being hit by a runaway car. The accident happened at 7.45pm on Saturday, when the boy was standing behind a Ford Sierra on Elland Road at Brookfoot. The car's handbrake suddenly failed and it rolled backwards. It hit the boy, knocking him face down on to the road. He was dragged under the car for 15 metres until it came to rest after hitting a wall. The boy was trapped under the car by his legs and Brighouse firefighters freed him, using airbags to raise the vehicle. He was given oxygen while under the vehicle and paramedics took him to the Calderdale Royal Hospital in Halifax. He suffered minor leg injuries. Read

SLAITHWAITE: A caravan was deliberately set on fire. It was parked next to Holme Mills on West Slaithwaite Road when it was set alight at 10.15pm on Saturday. Slaithwaite firefighters got to the scene in time to prevent serious damage, although there was some smoke damage to the vehicle. The caravan was empty at the time. At 11.45pm, the fire crew was called out again, to attend a wheeled bin fire on Nabbs Lane in Slaithwaite, opposite The Silent Woman pub. Read
