AN inquest has opened into the death of an 80-year-old Huddersfield woman. The body of Elfriede Maria Battye was discovered at her home in Roger Lane, Newsome, last Wednesday. There are no suspicious circumstances. The inquest, in Bradford, was adjourned for further tests to find the cause of death. Read

A MAN was seen fleeing after stealing from a car in Holmfirth. He had smashed a window to steal a Creative Zen MP3 player from the car on Cinder Hills Road, Holmfirth, at 11.30pm last night. He is white, just over 6ft tall and slim with dark hair and a distinctive sharp nose.
