A MAN who turned 27 today has appeared in a packed court over the death of a Holmfirth garage worker.

Robert McClelland, of Leas Avenue, Netherthong, is charged with the manslaughter of 27-year-old Joseph Keever.

Mr Keever died at Leeds General Infirmary late on Sunday night after an alleged incident outside the Shoulder of Mutton pub, at Dunford Road, Holmfirth, on Saturday evening.

Friends and relatives of both men crowded into the courtroom at Huddersfield Magistrates Court yesterday for a preliminary hearing.

Wearing a brown and grey striped hooded top and jeans, dark-haired shopfitter McClelland spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth.

He was granted bail and ordered to appear at Bradford Crown Court on January 2.
