THE Government is encouraging people who have overdone the alcohol during the festive season to take a break from the booze.
The Know Your Limits campaign urges festive drinkers to have a 48-hour alcohol-free period which can help the body recover.
Nick Sheron of the Alcohol Health Alliance UK said: “Most people enjoy a drink from time to time particularly at this time of year, but a few drinks every single day may cause trouble in the end. “Check your limits and if you go over the top give your body a rest for two or three days.”
Know Your Limits also aims to spotlight the calorie content of booze – there’s 170 calories in a pint of beer and 130 calories in a glass of wine – and show that reducing your alcohol intake can cut the beer gut.
