New year babies

NEW YEAR BABIES

ONE of the first babies born in Huddersfield in 2008 was two weeks overdue.

Proud mum Tracey O’Shea and delighted dad Brendan Kelly expected their little girl to arrive on December 18, just in time for Christmas.

But they had to wait two weeks before little Sadie – their first child – arrived, giving her mum and dad the best belated present they could have asked for.

The Lockwood couple are thrilled with their little bundle of joy.

Tracey, a civil servant at the Department for Work and Pensions, said: “We’ve had to wait an extra two weeks to get her, but we both think she is absolutely gorgeous.

“We knew we were having a girl. We asked to know when we had a scan so we could prepare for her arrival.

“We couldn’t be happier at the moment.”

Sadie was born in the Royal Infirmary at 8.10am yesterday, weighing 8lb 5oz.

Brendan, a labourer in Brighouse, said: “We’re used to being around children as we’ve got young nieces and nephews, but I’m sure it’ll be very different with our own.

“Our family are really excited and can’t wait to see her.”

The couple say they hope to have more children.

The first baby born in Huddersfield in 2008 was the daughter of a Rawthorpe couple.

Proud parents Khiyal Omer and Naief Yonis welcomed their little girl into the world just hours into the new year.

Their baby girl, who has not yet been named, was born at 2.18am yesterday morning in the delivery suite at the hospital.
