Worker dies in mill tragedy

A MAN has died in a tragic accident at a Holmfirth mill.

He was trapped in a machine and suffered serious multiple injuries.

The accident happened at Westwood Yarns, which operates a carpet yarn business at Washpit Mills in Dunford Road.

Fellow workers were unable to save the man before emergency services arrived at the scene.

The victim is thought to be a 40-year-old local man but his identity has not been released by police, who are liaising with relatives.

The incident is now being investigated by West Yorkshire Police and by officials of the Health and Safety Executive.
