A DIABETIC killed himself with an overdose of the drug he had used to save his life, an inquest heard.
Frederick Rhodes, 81, of Woodside Crescent, Healey, Batley, was found dead in his home after injecting too much insulin into his body.
Yesterday’s hearing in Huddersfield heard that a friend found his body on August 22 and called the emergency services.
Police found 11 empty vials of insulin near Mr Rhode’s body and a post-mortem revealed that excessive injecting of the drug killed him.
The inquest also heard that a note was found in which Mr Rhodes said he was sorry but he couldn’t carry on.
Coroner Roger Whittaker concluded that Mr Rhodes, who also suffered from depression and Parkinson’s disease, had intended to take his own life.
He added: “He intended the consequences of his actions, to take his own life.”
