SCHOOLS will benefit from extra cash.
Kirklees Council’s Cabinet yesterday approved funding from the Department of Children, Schools and Families (DCSF).
It includes £100,000 each for Colne Valley High and Rawthorpe High after they successfully applied for arts college specialist status from the Government.
Several schools will also receive extra funding to bring in the new 14-19 diplomas in September. Batley Girls High will get £150,000 with Rawthorpe High receiving £100,000 and Westborough High £18,000.
And the DCSF has given £50,000 for better drainage at Flockton CE First and Nursery and Old Bank Junior, Infant and Nursery.
Clr Jim Dodds, Cabinet member for schools, said: “It’s good news that we have been allocated extra funds for schools in Kirklees.”
