‘Lift this debt’ petition

WORRIED patients can support a campaign to lift a health trust’s debt.

The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs Dewsbury and District Hospital, is £75m in the red.

In October the Conservative Parliamentary candidate for Dewsbury, Kevin Hollinrake, set up a petition to the Government calling for the debt to be lifted.

Now he has launched an online petition.

Mr Hollinrake said: “I will not let this matter rest until this debt is settled.

“It is completely unfeasible for the trust to clear this burden.

“Unless something is done there will continue to be a great deal of strain on hospital staff and services due to financial pressures.”
