Man given life sentence for raping child

A MAN has been jailed for life for snatching a five-year-old girl from her home and raping her.

Leeds Crown Court heard that 33-year-old Manaf Hussain, from Carriage Way in Heckmondwike, had befriended the victim’s mother.

One night in September, 2006, he went to the family’s home and took the five-year-old from her bed without anyone noticing.

After raping and abusing her he returned her to her room, threatening both her and her elder sister to keep quiet and say nothing about what happened.

He cut the older girl on the chest with a knife.

The Recorder of Leeds, Judge Peter Collier, QC, described Hussain as a continuing danger to children after he was convicted by a jury of rape, sexual assault, kidnap and doing acts intended to pervert the course of justice.

He had a previous rape conviction going back to 1992 when he attacked a girl in an alleyway..

Hussain must serve at least 10 years and only will be allowed out when the Parole Board is satisfied he is no longer a danger to the public.
