Fire woman praised

A FIRE alarm was triggered by a chip pan blaze in a man’s flat – but he slept through it.
Luckily for him a woman in a flat below on Long Lane in Dalton was woken up by the detector’s piercing shrill at 1am today, went up to the flat and managed to wake him up.
She was today praised by firefighters.
Watch manager Andy Blackburn said: “She did a great job and the fire was out by the time crews arrived.
“It was just lucky she woke up and then had the presence of mind and went up to the flat to wake the man up.’’
