Deluge from Calder pours into homes

FLOODING brought misery to Mirfield householders and businesses when the River Calder burst its banks.
Among those hit were residents of Steanard Lane and Lowlands Road, who saw water more than two feet deep pour through their homes.
Workers at the British Bung Company in Lowlands Road were evacuated yesterday afternoon as the waters rose.
And on the West Mills playing fields at Battyeford, the water from the flood-swollen river at one point reached the crossbar on the soccer goalposts.
