FORMER headteacher Steve Britton performed his final duty when he presented awards to prize-winning students at Fartown High School at its presentation evening held at Huddersfield Town Hall.
He has now left the school to take up a new position in Rochdale. The new headteacher is Ms Isabella Atraszkiewicz.
Speeches were made by the chairman of governors, Pierre French, and Mr Britton.
The theme through both speeches was the high quality of student effort. Special mention was made of Farah Aslam, Samera Bi, Saqab Hussain and Stephen Stewart who all achieved 12 GCSE grades at A*-C.
There were also awards for attendance, exceptional personal progress and services to the community. Amongst these were Letitia Amos – who has met the Prime Minister, – Martin Wood and Danielle Wood for their exceptional progress and Christian Nduwayo who was one of the students who had achieved 100% attendance consistently over their school career.
