Schools close

NORTONTHORPE Hall School at Scissett closed yesterday morning due to fears that pupils would not be able to get home later in the day.

Many pupils at the school, which is for children with special needs, are bussed in from other areas, and because of flooding on many routes, there were fears there would be problems getting them home.

Hopton Primary School in Mirfield also closed and staff were battling to ensure Old Bank Junior and Infant School, also in Mirfield remained open.
