THIEVES stole some highly distinctive bank notes when they raided a car.
Police believe the cash could catch the culprits out.
The thieves broke into a car on Matlock Street in Crosland Moor on Sunday night and stole about £40 worth of Cypriot notes, including £5 notes (pictured).
They also took some Dolce Gabanna perfume.
Det Con Neil Johnson, of Kirklees CID intelligence unit, said: “It may be the thieves have now exchanged these notes for English pounds.
“We appeal to cashiers at banks or travel agents to think if they have seen any of these notes over the last few days.
“It may have been the people who changed the money has been caught on their CCTV cameras.’’

Cyprus pounds are still legal tender, although the country switched to the euro on January 1 this year.
